First Friday of Every Month

Friday night,
the CYP DoBo way.

The room gets a little louder. Then a little quieter. People arrive, drinks get poured, candles are lit, challah gets passed around — and somewhere between the first bite and the third conversation, Friday night starts to feel like it's supposed to.

What we do

Shabbat at CYP DoBo

The Table

Candles. Wine. Challah. A full Shabbat dinner — happy hour style. We set a real table every first Friday. The kind of night where you linger long after the food is gone.

The People

Young professionals in their 20s and 30s from all over Boca. Most didn't grow up with much Jewish observance — and that's exactly who this is for. Come as you are.

The Feeling

The thing people always say afterward: it felt like somewhere I belonged. That's not an accident. It's what Shabbat is supposed to feel like, and what we build every first Friday.

The evening

What to expect

It's simple. You show up, you sit down, and an hour later you're wondering where the time went. Here's how a typical Friday evening flows.

1
Arrive — 7:00 PM

Doors open, people filter in, introductions happen naturally. No awkward mingling — just people arriving.

2
Candles

We light Shabbat candles together. The room gets a little quieter. The week starts to fade.

3
Kiddush & Challah

Wine poured, blessings made, challah broken and passed around the table.

4
Dinner

A proper meal. Good food, long conversation, and the kind of Friday night that actually feels like a Friday night.

Who comes

Everyone you'd want at your Friday night table.

Lawyers, doctors, designers, founders, teachers. People who've been going to Shabbat their whole lives and people who've never been. People who grew up deeply Jewish and people who are still figuring out what that means to them. The common thread isn't background or observance — it's that they all showed up.

Coming alone is completely normal. Most people did the first time. We'll make sure you're not standing around wondering what to do with your hands.

First time at Shabbat?

Never been to Shabbat? Perfect.

A lot of people show up to their first CYP DoBo Shabbat not knowing what to expect — or not knowing anyone. That's not a problem. That's pretty much the default. Most regulars came alone their first time.

There's no dress code, no religious test, and no moment where you'll feel out of place. Just a warm room, good food, and people who are genuinely glad you're there.
